Kenosha Pride 2018 - Press Release

The Kenosha Pride, Inc. Board of Directors is excited to announce that Kenosha Pride 2018 will take place on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Park-625 52nd St. Kenosha, WI 53140. On Monday, May 14, 2018 the City of Kenosha Park Commission unanimously approved the Special Event application and permits for Kenosha Pride 2018.


Kenosha Pride 2018 will begin with our 6th annual Pride March. Sign making and gathering will begin at 11:30am at Library Park in Kenosha. Participants will have the opportunity to make signs to carry during the march. Kenosha Pride will also be selling Pride Flags for participants to carry. At around Noon, the welcoming and acknowledgement of special guests, including this year’s “Grand Marshal” Alex Hart-Upendo.


Mr. Hart-Upendo is the 11-year-old Founder and CEO of “Build-A-Bow”- a bow-tie making company with a mission to bring awareness to bullying & incurable diseases while being fashionable and changing lives one bowtie at a time-a published author, and recipient of many business awards. The Kenosha Pride Board of Directors have been astounded by the work that Mr. Hart-Upendo has done at such a young age-including effecting positive changes within the Racine Unified School District and the City of Racine. He is also the State Representative for “Be Strong and Stand for the Silent”, a non-profit dedicated to bullying and youth suicide awareness.


The Kenosha Pride 2018 Celebration grounds will open at 12:30pm. As the march approaches the grounds, attendees will be greeted with music by DJ Lorax. Entertainment will begin on the main stage at 1:00pm and continue through the closing of the event at 9:00pm. Kenosha Pride 2018 will welcome the addition of a second stage with DJ Haunt3d Hous3 that will allow a greater variety of entertainment to be showcased. This year will also see an increase in size of the beer tent to allow more people to interact comfortably. The growing Marketplace will host a variety of vendors and exhibitors-ranging from pet vendors, to clothing vendors, to non-profit exhibitors. The pet specific area will also be increasing this year to include more vendors, pools, and water for pets.
